As a building contractor with 30 years of combined trade and industry experience, MB Construction Essex recognises that all house extensions have a unique quality. As such, we tailor our service to ensure that every client has their requirements met. From applying for planning permission on your behalf to sourcing high-end roof tiles that complement the design of your home, we always go above and beyond to achieve 100% customer satisfaction. In addition, if you’re struggling for inspiration on a final design, we’re more than happy to put forward suggestions and advice that fit your stylistic tastes.
In our role as building contractor, we build any type of house extensions, from a single-storey extension with a flat roof in Hornchurch to a double-storey structure with a pitched roof in Harlow. No matter the design, we only ever source superior grade materials for the ultimate durability, performance and full compliance with Building Regulations.
While no two extensions are the same, we usually follow a set process during construction that includes:
1. Planning and Design
2. Groundworks and Foundations
4. Internal Remodelling
• Check Quality of Work and Resolve Any Issues
• Tidy Up and Clear All Equipment from Site
• Final Clean and Handover to Homeowner
A significant amount of house extensions fall under the classification of permitted development. Anything classified as such does not require planning permission. However, certain caveats apply that push house extensions beyond the limits of permitted development. This includes a single-storey rear extension that exceeds the rear wall of the existing property by more than three metres for attached houses and four metres* for detached houses. In this case, planning permission would need to be applied for.
As your building contractor, we make your own situation as clear as possible. We have a thorough understanding of local planning policies in use around Hornchurch and the surrounding areas, so we make any required application on your behalf.
It should also be noted that when submitting a proposal for any kind of house extensions, you must notify your neighbours in accordance with the Neighbourhood Consultation Scheme. Generally speaking, single-storey extensions rarely receive objections. If objections are made, the local council assesses the overall impact that the proposed work will have before making a final decision.
